- a stupid minecraft base -

Quilting in Fabric

So I'm playing on a modded Minecraft server with some friends

and trying to figure out how I should make my base, I know the

mine that I've made is like the only thing I cant move, but I

don't really have any other constraints.

I have some plans for later, but like I just need something to

start from until I have the resources nessissary. The mine is

a pit in the middle of the ocean, thinking to give myself enough

room away from the other players that I can build something large

without disrupting their builds. if the mine ends up being

central, which it did. I like being far out, but I do need

land, so my current base layout is set with making land in mind

Create mod has these really handy modded items called Schematics.

These let you make a contraption with create, and copy a blueprint

essentially, then its a small file that can be transfered to other

worlds, or even modpacks, assuming you have enough of a digital

thumb to move files from one instance to another and everthing

in the schematic is blocks that are in both packs.

I have a tree farm that I made over the course of three or four

worlds, that I can now use in any pack with create, for instance.

these can also just have vanilla blocks in them, of course, for

moving a piston door, or house design, or, for a while I had

considered the idea of copying land generation, digging a pit,

and then using a schematic to place natural generation over-top.

I suppose most of yall see where I'm going with this...

Minecraft has some beuitiful terrain generation, always has.

Some terrain however, does look cooler than other terrain,

I've always been partial to how mountains grow in this game, from

simple cones, shattered floating block messes, even rolling hills

are favored by me, despite not techinically being mountains.

I think at this point its a little obvious what I've done, but

I hope that the last twist is still a suprise! Over the course

of maybe a week, maybe less, I've been on our server searching for

cool mountains, using the schematic and quill to collect them and

their surrounting terrain. Then, once I had like twelve, i placed

them in a singleplayer creative world to see what all I had, and

size up which looked coolest.

I started with a mountain side that

had village houses scattered down it, little plynths for each.

A simple hill side capped the end to the right to close off the

mountain. After this a cool river bank acted as the back to

the village, leaving a flat layer on top for the village to sprawl.

Perhaps my favorite module next capped the left side of the village,

a sharp mountain with a hole diagonally cutting through, wide enough

to fly with elytra without hitting anything.

At this point I had several chunks of world from

all over smushed togehter, making sure to adjust the spacing as best

I could to have them match up, but the seam lines still were obvious.

I started to gather small sections of my mountain collection to fill

holes, and started carving by hand anywhere that was jutting poorly.

A cantilever from this hill under this mountain that was a bit too

short to reach the sea, copying a sliver of this mountain, mirroring

it, and then shoving to the left five feet to fill in this gap.

8 hours of sculpting later, the night before work, I had a rough

island. 14 chunks by 10 chunks, a village, couple caves, a ravine,

and lots of cliffs. An interior planned with wool showed the need

for a lush cave to be found and copied, and a wonderful lake adds

an etherial feel around the floating mineshaft. In the corner of this

hollow mountain, sits a wizard tower, filled with books and other

useful and totally planned layers. It is set to be able to flip,

staying hidden underground until it is moved to tower over the ground.

(more detailed lists of what's used and built will be included later)
